"Kanata."
The water is a living thing, and it is gentle with him. Kanata stares back with those sea-green eyes — two stones of seaglass, twinkling in the murk of the deep, deep ocean depths.
"Do you 'trust' me?"
Chiaki doesn't answer. Not right away, at least. He's too wonder-struck to speak, his throat too parched, his chest too tight it's sparkling, sparkling, sparkling —
"I... I thought winter was a cold thing. At first," Chiaki adds hastily, hands swishing before him. "But now..."
Kanata dips his head. "Now...?"
Chiaki laughs, a little lightheaded, a little breathless. "I think I'm in love with it, you know. With you. With the world, with everything."
